what’s the word

[Black Stax] music felt timeless but at the same time very current and in alignment with the times we are in…[and] delivered a message that was freeing… the music emulated a positive energy not just through the lyrics, but sonically as well. [it’s able to bring people together in a way that feels authentic and genuine. Felicia and Jace made us feel like we were part of the performance as a community, not just as spectators.

One of the most memorable songs for me was called Ghosts (Cover Me). I was particularly moved by Felicia Louds’ vocals. You can really hear how her voice has a presence of the ancestors. She brings so much energy and grounding to the music.

I would definitely see them again and recommend others to see them. There is something about seeing them live that felt almost like a missing piece to a puzzle. There’s so much texture and movement that a live performance gives and Black Stax has the kind of sound that really thrives in a live environment. You can really feel the love, heart and soul in every word.
